I got an email from Steve at Robit Studios a little while ago about about his new shirt line. He and his partner pretty much do everything themselves. I really like it when companies take the DIY approach. I don’t know what it is but I’d much rather give my money to someone who designs and prints their own stuff than to someone who buys designs from designers and sends their shirts out to get printed. Anyway, I looked over their site and really love their Prepare For Zombies tee. Its a simple design but well done.

When I first started making shirts a few years back, there was only a handful of other people doing it. Nowadays it seems that everyone and their mom has a t-shirt company. It wouldn’t be so bad if they all didn’t have the same exact design where their name repeats over and over in big text covering the full front of the shirt. I’ve been guilty of doing similar stuff in the past as well though. I just hope this trend dies soon. So when I saw this shirt from Reason Clothing, I was estatic. It summed up all my feelings about the popularity of t-shirt lines these days. It comes in a wide variety of colors but green and red are my favorites.

I’m a bit of a typography nerd. I can’t even count the amount I have installed and am constantly looking for new ones. I especially nerd out for anything with Helvetica. It really is the best font and works for everything. They even made a documentary about it last year. So when I saw this shirt from Collapse Design, I had to write about it. Its a clever twist on the popular “Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll” motto. I absolutely love it.

The tee blogosphere is pretty active as always. Its tough to keep up with every one. I could write about any number of shirts/brands out there, but I only like writing about shirts that really tickle my fancy. I haven’t really seen anything that does that for a little while. I haven’t been looking that hard either. I should have some updates over the weekend or early next week.

In case you haven’t read the first bit of info on the next season of shirts, check it out. I’ve been working on new designs whenever I get a chance. So far I have 6 that I’m pretty sure are good to go, and I’m happy to say that none of them are text based. A few do have words, but thats not the only thing they have. As usual, theres no real continuity between the designs and they all jump to and from different styles. I’m really happy with what I have so far and would easily say this is the best season of Divine to date.

I’m going to be reprinting the Those Who Love… tee like I do every season but, this will most likely be the last time it will be printed. It will come in two different color combinations, one for the guys and one for the gals. The shirt has been around since Divine started almost three years ago and, while I’m sad to see it go, I feel like its ran its course. Its crazy to think how long I’ve been doing this. It feels like I started just yesterday.

I plan to introduce prints this season featuring a few of the shirt designs and maybe a few print exclusive designs. They’ll be printed in really small runs, probably 10 - 20 of each. I’m thinking they’ll be around 10″x12″ or so, and I’ll probably price them pretty cheap, about $8 - $10 a piece. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while. I’m glad I finally have the chance to.

Hoodies are something I definitely plan on bringing back. They’ve been missing for a little while but it hasn’t been a big deal since its summer. I really have no ideas on what designs I’ll use yet. I was thinking about setting up a poll and letting you vote.

I still have no exact date on when I plan on releasing everything. I’m thinking around mid August or so but don’t hold me to that.

Mike Birbiglia is one of my favorite comics. Ever since I saw his Comedy Central Presents I’ve been a big fan. His whiffle ball tony and guitar guy bits are some of his best. If you haven’t heard of him, you should check out his album Two Drink Mike and the dvd of his stand up special What I Should Have Said Was Nothing - Tales From My Secret Public Journal. They are both hilarious and you will not be dissapointed.

After seeing one of his specials a little while back, I decided to check out his website only to find out that he has a bunch of awesome shirts for sale. I was unaware that comics had shirts. Is it a common thing? I really love two in particular.

‘I make awkward situations more awkward’ is the story of my life. The design is great too. It looks like it was taken out of one of those ‘learn to write cursive’ books you get in grade school. If I didn’t know it was one of his jokes, I would say it would be a perfect Threadless type tee.

His Salad + Pizza shirt is also great. I am a huge fan of pizza so virtually anything that has to do with will get me excited. Heres the blurb from the store “Pizza’s always hanging out with salad. Salad’s cool sometimes, but sometimes me and pizza need to be alone for a while.” I couldn’t agree more.

A while back, I posted about Easttown by Eastwood Screenprinting. The fine folks behing ES so my post and were kind enough to send me a shirt a few days ago. I can’t thank them enough because I really love it. They also gave me a few stickers, and some pins with their fabulous logo. If you haven’t checked out their site and store yet, you really should. Although it seems that they only have smalls and mediums of the Eastwood shirt at the moment.

Quick post before I go to bed. I got an email from Fuzzy Ink today about their new design called “The Sunstache Kid”. It seems that mustaches are making a big comeback via t-shirts. Heres what they wrote about it:

“We’re very excited to let you know that we’ve just released a brand new design.  From the underground lair of Fuzzy Ink, we bring you The Sunstache Kid. This fun little design was the result of a recent collaboration with Craig “Wotto” Watkins, and we hope that you enjoy the bright colors and flair that it offers. Currently, we are pre-saling this shirt at $15.95, but it won’t last long, so hurry while the sale is still in effect. All orders will ship July 15th  Like our other products, each shirt is one of a kind, with hand printed tags and design on the softest combed mustache (cotton) shirts you’ll ever wear.”
